The Material Design WordPress themes in this list are Materialist, Material Gaze, MaterialWP, Jackdaw and Varuna. Material Design is Google’s design language, which uses shadows, motion and bold buttons to highlight the most important parts of a page.
We challenged ourselves to create a visual language for our users that synthesizes the classic principles of good design with the innovation and possibility of technology and science.
Material Design shares the focus of Flat Design, but it highlights the most important parts of a page (with box-shadow, for example) and adds more motion effects and buttons.
There are many framework options based on Material Design for web developers to choose from. Some well-known ones are MaterializeCSS and MUI CSS. However, if you do not want to take time to manually integrate it into your WordPress theme, then check out these free and premium responsive Material Design themes for WordPress.

Material Design WordPress Themes (TOC):
5 Free and Premium Material Design WordPress Themes
These five themes bring Material Design to WordPress. Three are free downloads and one is a multipurpose premium theme.

Materialist
This theme is quite simple but extremely clean. I like the way it displays posts on the homepage in a wide, no-sidebar layout.
Material Gaze (Download)
A child theme of Stargazer, built on the Hybrid Framework.
MaterialWP (Download)
MaterialWP uses the popular WordPress starter theme Underscores and Zivolo’s Material Design Bootstrap theme.
Jackdaw (Download)
Are you looking for a WordPress mobile theme? Jackdaw is one, and it’s based on Material Design too.
Varuna Multi-Purpose WordPress Theme
Varuna is a flexible multipurpose WordPress theme for building a website in any niche. Using this theme, you can build your own online community, membership, LMS, blogging website, and many more types of websites with ease. It also supports WooCommerce, so you can add an online store to your website. It has attractive header styles and page layouts that enhance your website’s overall look.
Conclusion
You won’t find many Material Design WordPress themes in the marketplace or even the WordPress theme directory. But I think the current ones are carefully made and less boring than other designs.
